WILLOW

You have an innate sense of style, where do you draw your personal style inspiration from?

GEORGINA

I dress for the way I feel and often get inspiration from how I want to express myself, that's where I find the "magic" happens. I also love to endlessly scroll through visual platforms that showcase photographers and designers, and flick through the pages in my collection of coffee table books and fashion magazines which allure me to try new things and explore my sense of style.

WILLOW

Stylist, Designer, and Photographer - you’re the ultimate triple threat, how did you become to master/be a success at all 3 areas.

GEORGINA

I’m a self taught creative who put herself out there at a young age to absorb and learn from the places I’ve worked, to the people I’ve met and the destinations I’ve traveled too. Instinctively I became a fashion stylist when I had my own clothing store at the age of twenty. I felt an urge to create through the form of clothing, which evolved into fashion design when I moved to Bali in my mid-20’s. Creating products then led me to purchasing my first professional camera in the pursuit of capturing my style through the lens. I always loved collaborating and working with other photographers, but they didn’t always get “my eye” so it wasn’t until I put all my skills together, that I realized I had passion to explore all three areas and at times all at once. This has now led me to opportunities that make my clients extremely satisfied because I not only have a perfectionist eye for the way things look, but conceptually I understand how an outfit should fit on the body, and picking up on all the finer details not everyone sees when on set. I feel really satisfied when I can combine all my skills into one moment like this and execute something really special for what I’m working on, and I really enjoy the process too. I was told at an early age that you can’t be successful in more than one area, and I’m really happy that I didn’t listen.

We are all inundated these days with so much inspiration, new ideas and new innovations, thanks to Social Media, do you find it hard to be innovative and ahead of the curve?

GEORGINA

Not at all, I think social media is an incredible tool to both learn and share creativity. It’s a platform that when used right, is the perfect place to gain inspiration, learn from others and express how you desire. I would never trade how I was taught, but I’m very grateful it’s accessible now.

Why PRIM HAUS? What prompted you to start this concept/studio?

GEORGINA

PRIM HAUS originated from Prim Mist, a natural hand sanitiser I created during the first lockdown of Covid. At the time of launching my product, I was living in this dreamy 80’s esq modern apartment with double story glass brick tiled walls, and came up with the concept of PRIM HAUS - a home for content curation. With a real love for sourcing second hand furniture, I fitted the studio out with a replica Wassily Chair and a LC4 chaise, along with one-off finds like a leather circle bed, to an original Phillippe Starck chair, and a double seat Bauhaus style daybed… and everyone just gravitated to it! I offered it out as a “safe studio” during the lockdown where two people at a time could enter my premises and shoot content in exchange for marketing my product. Word traveled fast, and anyone from brands and models, to influencers and content creators started to approach me, and PRIM HAUS instantly became a thing!

WILLOW

You now run the creative studio with your friend Sarsha Simone, was this a dream that you have both always had, to start this type of concept/creative studio together?

GEORGINA

It’s quite a fortuitous story! Whilst operating the first studio, I started to upcycle my furniture finds with bouclé material, and envisioned either selling it or broadening on this concept I had created. For personal reasons, I let go of my incredible apartment, which at the time I regretted. But if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have moved to the same street that Sarsha lives on. Sarsh and I knew each other socially, but had never spent time together. We bumped into each other one day, which turned into a dog walk, which opened the conversation of “if I’d known you were letting go of your studio, I would have taken it on” to conversations like “I’ve kept all the furniture and not sold it because I want to do something like it again” to “let's start looking for locations!” … which led us to finding THE BEST location together, which is now the home of both studios, as we opened our second location together earlier this year. Naturally we both wanted the same thing, but together we have been able to unite our skills to create something that operates seamlessly for the two of us, with endless opportunities for expansion. The journey is still so young!

How do you prep for a photoshoot, what are the intricacies that go into prepping for a photoshoot, what is something that the everyday person would not realise the lengths you have to go to when prepping for a photoshoot?

GEORGINA

It really depends whether I’ve been booked to go on set as the photographer only or whether I’ve been booked to also drive the vision of the shoot. They both have similar foundations, but often most people don’t realize how much time and effort it takes to put a photoshoot together. It’s definitely not as simple as point and shoot. I conceptualize the entire framework which consists of moodboarding, location and talent scouting, styling and referencing, and always with purpose. WHY is always considered and budget always comes into play. When all these key factors are targeted correctly, normally a shoot day can run pretty smoothly and the outcome is achieved.

WILLOW

If you could be the creative director of WILLOW for a day, what are the 3 key pieces you would include in your collection?

GEORGINA

Ooo, I would definitely include more Blazers and they’re my everyday go-to! An oversized silk tee as an alternative to the fitted tee for that androgynous look when you don’t really want to wear something so fitting, but still want to look chić. And I’d also do another Blazer, but the length of your trench. There’s something about the length of the Willow Trench that is incredibly flattering, and you can never have too many statement outerwear pieces.
